It usually takes a whole dive to fill the bag. So should I carry 12 bags and send one up everytime I put some bugs in it? Also who exactly is going to retrieve the bags on the surface? We have a little thing called current that likes to take things far, far way:D I do mostly shore dives so I don't have a Surface tender to collect my bounty.

P.S. When exactly did Dayton, Ohio become part of New England?
Do whatever your little heart desires....I just threw out an idea....are you telling me that as you collect bugs and put them in a bag...that you couldn't use a lift bag to make them neutral and float them there beside you?

why are you so worried about where I live anyway?

That really wouldn't work too well, I don't think. Keeping one entity neutrally bouyant is challenging enough...two would be ridiculous, especially with depth changes, etc. With the shore diving we do, we could collect one bug at 20 ft and another one at 45 ft over a ledge.

damn you soggy....you are taking my fun away....rational thinking and all....

o.k....how about this thought.....again I say if you are all about things not dangling.....but dacpo man missed that part of my post....

shoot a bag, and clip the goody bag off to the spool (b/c dir fans use spools duh....) on the opposite side that you lock the spoll off on. the the bag hangs in front of you....or wherever you want it to hang...hands are free to use for lobster grabbin...you could have your tools in your pockets....

again, I'm just throwin out ideas....I obviously have no idea what I'm talking about since I live in Dayton, OH...

Guess I shouldn't expect non-New Englanders to understand the concept of smilies;)

As for you ideas, the problem isn't weight. Actually it isn't even a problem for me at all but my DIR friends have seizures when they see me. I have two lights on lanyards, the flag reel on one arm, a lobster gauge on a retractor,, my Cobra on another retractor, my catch bag clipped to my weight belt and my octo on a clip. I'm happy and safe so I guess that's all that matters.

This discussion has gone off track and I apologize for my part. DIR is a style of diving that has many great points. It's worth learning more about it for anyone starting out diving.

P.S. I really was kidding. I don't care where you're from. You're a diver and that's good enough for me:)

Who the heck is "dacpo"?

but dacpo man missed that part of my post....

decapod = 10 legged. Lobsters are 10 legged. decapodman = lobsterman. Get it? Hee hee:D

Man, I thought you had 10 legs. I wanted to see your drysuit!!

that when she looks at my naked profile I look like I have....

I'll have a cold beer in celbration of that....And I agree the DIR philosuiphy has a ton of good points for any level of diver.

the lack of letters when I type someones name means I'm lazy more than anything else.

and DD - I was thinking the same thing when he described the 10-legged deal...I was thinking...man what did that suit cost?
