... and great writing Seajay. Makes me want to go out and practice skills! :D

I know exactly where you were in your head on Sunday... I remember driving to our training site on the fifth day of our Tech 1 class and saying to Shane, "I want to be a golfer."

I hate golf.

Great info, SeaJay.

Thanks for exposing your weakness and frustration so all of us can learn form your experiences.

Hahahahaaaaa!!! Man, that's funny.

seaJay, you're going to make a lot of money with your writing someday. I wish I could project the enthusiasm you can.

Yea SeaJay,
you have a certain journalistic 'flair.'

Hey, what happened to the Buddy Gold BC you were gonna wear at DIR:F?

Hahahaha....

Holy smokes.

Thanks a lot man; that really means a lot coming from a published artist like yourself.

You know, last I looked, it wasn't me making money with his writing skills. :D I'm jealous. :D

Hey, maybe you could bring some of your skills and knowlege up here to South Carolina so we could explore some of the Histories and Mysteries of some of the Atlantic's most hidden treasures together. I have a relative here who's been a shrimper for almost five decades. He knows the waters and it's "hangs" (where nets snag for no apparent reason) like the back of his hand. I've compared his hangs with known reefs and wrecks, and still have some forty-five points of interest that are totally unaccounted for by NOAA or the USCG. And they're all within a couple hours of the dock in my backyard.

I am sure that there are several wrecks and crashes that have never been found. Certainly some of these points of interest have to be those unfound wrecks and crashes.

Wanna come diving? We could write about it and make a lot of money... :D

But the flip side of that is that MHK had no problems. Sure, he's an expert... And I'm not... But that's not the point. The point is that it was possible to have enough skill to manage it. And I didn't have those skills. I simply was not skilled enough to handle a 5 mil suit in 20' of water.
And let's face it... Handling a 5 mil suit in 20' of water takes a little finesse... But on the "skill chart," doing so isn't too tough. I mean, compare the skill of handling a 5 mil in 20' of water to the skill of penetration at 240'... Or diving sucessfully in a cave in Mexico... Or deep deco with a dozen other divers in zero vis and 3 knots... Or handling an OOA situation with a paniked buddy. I mean, by comparison, handling a 5 mil in 20' should be cheese, right?

So the big picture... And the part that was so hard to take... Was the fact that I simply did not have the skills I needed to be safe underwater. Heck, you shoulda seen my out of air drills... They were horrible, and very much made worse by the terrible bouyancy problems.

Seajay,
I am really puzzled here. You admit not being able to handle a 5 mil suit in 20' of water, but then you choose to do a solo dive. Did you not learn anything about not diving solo? What logic did you use to justify diving alone when your skills are not what they need to be? As you state further down it should be cheese. Shouldn't it be cheese to do a solo dive? Do you classify your self as a Darwin candidate? I might be a bit harsh here but man you just admitted you couldn't do it and you go out and endanger yourself. I think your ego wasn't bruised enough myself. You really didn't use much of what was taught when you made the solo dive choice. I hope your really digesting this class and make significant changes in your thought and logic processes.
I will say, as everyone else pointed out, your writing style is wonderful. Just make changes in your diving style so your around to keep writing.

Rec2Tek... you haven't a clue.

I'll be listing some clues on Ebay later for anyone who doesnt have one. Also gonna have some maps for those people who are always lost.

Nice writing job, Seajay. Proud of you for hanging in there. That class is tough regardless. We had one fellow who was GUE Cave 1 and Tech 2 trained and even he got his chops busted the first day! Task loading until you break!

Now go spend some real time practicing for the next 6-8 weeks and you will be amazed where you find yourself.
