Has anyone heard of this company or tried this equipment. I recently met with a rep from the company and he explain that the company is about a year old and has a full line of gear. I looked at the gear and alot of it looks similar to Dive Rite and OMS setups i.e. backplate/harness/bc setups. I was wondering if there were any pros/cons on this equipment from individual users?

I purchased a Deep Outdoors 55lb bladder and harness back in July from Annapolis Scuba in MD. Although I no longer dive doubles, I wanted the extra lift for hauling up weight belts and stuff OW students tend to drop while I'm divemastering. I took the new rig to Key West and discovered that only the 85lb bladder had bands. With very little air required in the bladder, it just flopped around behind me and I could actually feel it flopping around so I'm sure there was a lot of water resistance. I liked the Freedom harness though. When I returned from Key West, I called Deep Outdoors and talked to them about my problem. They were extremely helpful. I exercised the Deep Outdoors satisfaction guarantee (albeit, stretching to say I wasn't satisfied). Deep Outdoors worked with Annapolis Scuba and I was able to swap the 55lb bladder for the 34lb bladder and it is just perfect for me now. Deep Outdoors kept me well informed via e-mail during the process and I ultimately received a call from Annapolis Scuba telling me to bring the 55lb bladder.

In Summary, I had no doubt about the quality of the Deep Outdoors products, and I can add to that satisfaction their phone support and customer support. First class all the way. www.deepoutdoors.com

I don't divemaster for Annapolis Scuba and I had never shopped there before. They were equally first class in the whole process. www.annapolisscuba.com

Other than being a satisfied customer, I am in no way whatsoever affiliated with either company.

I recently purchased their Matrix Harness system and have been very satisfied. Have not had to deal with them directly but the equipment has been fine. The backplate is superbly done as far as its finish and the finely beveled / honed slots. I have the 36lb bladder and it has great as well. Single tank diving with a drysuit in SoCal and even during a 4 dive trip to Hawaii this week.

I know, I know, there are lots of threads about Deep Outdoors. However, I didn't find one quickly that talks about the wings specifically. Besides, it wouldn't be the first time that there is a new thread started about some gear that is discussed in detail in existing threads (Halcyon, Oxycheq, Apeks, and ScubaPro come to mind). I have purchased a 40# wing (great price) and I'm wondering about everyone's experiences with them (good or bad).

I purchased it predominantly on the price and the color (orange). I want people to be able to see me more easily in the murky waters of lake travis (and they were out of Yellow :) ).

I like those colors, too. Yellow would be my first choice. :)
No experience, but they look like they're pretty solidly build.
For single tank I prefer oval bladders, though.

I have been using their 34lb bladder with the Matrix jacket for the last 6 weeks and have been pretty happy. Just switched over from a ScubaPro Classic Plus. The bladder is nice, I have read that some people say that with the exhaust hose on the upper left corner ya may have to roll to the side to vent. I haven't had this problem and have been venting the BC in an upright position. It is built pretty rugged and has been great with single tanks.

I have been diving with the 40 Lbs lift Integrity model for about one year now. It is very comfortable. Mine has plenty of D-rings to use. The only thing that I noticed with mine is that some of the stitching aroung the bladder came undone. Since it has a lifetime warranty, I will take it back.

I think that you will enjoy yours too. Take care and enjoy.

I dive their 40# wing and Matrix harness. It is very well built. Unfortunately mine is black...I would love to have blue or yellow. I can't really think of anything significant to complain about. I am hoping that sometime soon I can check out a Halcyon pioneer or eclipse so that I have something to compare it to.

Yep.. By the time I put in my order, they were out of all but orange and black (DEMA special). I wasn't sure about blue for visibility, but it was a nice looking wing... I get tired of the current black, black, or black trend of scuba equipment. Seems like a few years back, you could get a much wider color selection on stuff.

Unfortunately, everyone around here will just assume that I'm a Texas fan (burnt orange color), when I'm frankly just the opposite... Oh well...
