pilot fish:
but to do those kinds of dives after a 6- 8 K jog is almost suicide.
Got any proof of that?

pilot fish:
I don't know the physics involved, I think it's you will uptake N2 too fast, too deeply, or something like that,
Didn't think so.

I've never heard that it's not good to exercise before a dive. I used to swim a mile in the morning and then dive pretty often. What's bad about that? Did I miss something?

onfloat:
amazing how science works..........
I guess he wasn't using his 'puter

JeffG:
Pretty much the opposite of what Pilot Fish said...Go Figure

OK, go run a 6K race, then do a 125 ft dive, then a 130ft dive, then a 132 ft dive and tell us how you feel. Oh, do a 2 1/2 hour SI between dives. Oh, yeah, tells us what your puter says. :D

Be sure to do some aerobics after the dive too. :crafty:

Actually, don't do that, it's too risky.

The dives are risky.. the exercise before is not.

I'd like you to show me any evidence to the contrary, Pilot Fish.

Please explain why the dives are risky (from DCS standpoint, not narc). I just haven't seen enough info to decide one way or the other, but there seems to be a general consensus that Spoon's dives were in some way dangerous.

What specifically do you, or other people, take issue with, other than doing dive 3 after already getting bent on #2.

spoon:
Dive1: 125 feet max, 49ft ave, bottom time 51 mins. did necessary stops. we even did our obligatory deco stop for 5 mins . aside form that we were shallower than 30 ft for the remaining part of the dive and even did our safety stops.

surface interval 2hours 20 mins

dive2: 107 ft. max, 44ft ave, bottom time 31 mins. this dive was very conservative and we decided to abort it early because there was a slight surge shallower than 20ft. soon after this dive i noticed a small blotch on my tummy. it was sore and i was attributing this to sunburn because i usually sun tan during my surface intervals.

surface interval 2 hours 30 mins

dive 3: 132ft max, 53ft ave, bottom time 31 mins. got hit by a strong downdraft and made it to 132ft, ascended slowly til we leveled off at around 100ft. most of the dive was shallower 90 and made sure we were within our ndl times.

edit: more info
spoon:
we were planning on doing multilevel dives with the notion of touching down the base of a certain sea cave, (batcave) and head back up on a slow ascent. i was keeping an eye on our bottom timer and we were at 110-125 for around 2 mns and back up to 100-80 from 125 in less than 2 mins. we were well within our assigned ndls.
