Well, that does it... I guess tomorrow I'll finally do all the things at home that I've been putting off.

Thank you, Kathy!

There is also a rumor that Carmel river run-off has caused poor vis at Lobos.

Sat night at BW might be OK as the swell model dips.

I woke up to brown water filling the small cove North of Mendocino where Jack Peters Creek empties. It is hard to believe that that much water can go down that little gulch, but it sure did last night.

Mendocino Bay to the South of the town is brown well past both points. And yes, it is also pretty sloppy. Since many of the roads parallel rivers, several of them are closed too. Opening day of Abalone season is not looking too promising from here. :(

:( :( :( :( :(

I was hoping to get wet tomorrow. Looks like it might not be worth the drive.

Thanks Ken :-) -look forward to diving with you soon!

Sorry, I don't have great news :(.

Rumor has it that Lobos was out today, waves were too big - but I didn't look.

Some people dove BW this morning and reported surge and 20ft vis. But the vis greatly decreased by the afternoon.

I was at BW during low tide. Vis looked bad. The conditions looked somewhat divable if you are desperate to get wet, but it was pretty rough. Exit/entry could be a bit tricky.

Wouldn't suggest it for beginners and I doubt those who are experienced with larger surf entry will enjoy the low vis & surge combo very much.

Having just returned from 200-300ft vis and warm still water - I wasn't inspired :) -- but you can always drive down and take a look for yourself. Tomorrow might be different.

Thanks for checking! Maybe next weekend

I saw some pictures of the Carmel River yesterday - it was a HUGE torrent, and was said to have washed 1/3 the asphalt away from a downriver parking lot, and there were tractors on site to help pile up sand in order to prevent further erosion. Not something that I'd imagine is adding to the vis.

I just stopped by BW parking lot again. It's rainy & windy topside and very wet, but conditions are easily divable. There are several OW classes in the water and just a mild shore brake - no issue for exit/entry. Divers said that vis is about 10-15ft and grainy.

A substantial volume of storm drain water was rushing into the ocean. I'm not sure how healthy it is to dive.

I'm heading to the aquarium instead ;)
