I have a gas grill- not really portable but I'm sure that my truck will be able to have it packed somehow. What food do I need to bring? I usually bring a salad that others refer to as rabbit food but man when it's so hot salads are great.

OK... have a question. Are there any INSTRUCTORS? I have a friend from Columbia that I play underwater hockey with. I'll explain what the crazy underwater hockey is later. But you do alot of free diving. He also has been in sports that require scuba diving in pools. He's interested in scuba but has never had classroom time. So the question is if there are any instructors that would allow him to dive legally and safely is that possible? That would make the entrance to Clear Springs free plus a case of beer or something. If not that's ok. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Sorry Becky,

The best that could be done would be a discover scuba, and Clear Springs doesn't meet the requirements to do that per standards.

Thanks Two Bit-- that's ok because I asked Robert if one can snorkel there and you can. So that allows you to free dive. I might do some of that myself. Again , Thanks!

I hope you folks have better luck than my wife and me this past weekend (Aug 19th & 20th). We drove 3 hours up to CSSP and there were over 100 people there, few parking spots, and the viz was about 5 feet :/

I was also kinda disappointed in the number of covered areas - I'm used to the Blue Lagoon in Huntsville that has a covered area and picnic table for every site, and I usually try to go on a weekday to enjoy higher visibility. Seems like the DFW area has very few options for good dive parks, which is certainly a shame for an area with that many people.

Anyway, hope y'all have fun and the variables are kinder to you!

Welcome to our world :) We had about the same conditions out there last Sunday too. I don't know what's up with the crowds. Guess a ton of dive shops are doing their courses out there. One from Oklahoma even. It gets kind of frustrating when you can't find a dock to use to get in the water.

BTW, the Adventure Scuba club out of Plano is planning to go to CSSP this Saturday. Sounds like the early birds will get the worm this weekend.

Talked with Robert this past weekend,,,the pond is SO low that he is going to attach floating docks/with steps to the perm. docks so folks can safetly get in and out. Also a brand new parking lot and canopy are being worked on that ScubaToys is leasing on the left near the center after entering the park....they are going to move the barge from the Rescue/plane area to the ScubaToys slot. Times are changing at the pond.....its a good place for classes...skills review work and get wet on refresher dives....safe-clean and always a place to meet nice folks,,,,now if we can just get the admission cost down--lol. :-)

I have never gone there when there is a crowd- always during the week. Clear Springs is great when there are no crowds and we don't have drought.I really like not worrying about boaters or fishing lines.

I was wondering how long you guys are planning to be at CSSP? I found out that I'm going to be doing my OW dives from 8- ~5/6ish.

TOTA, I'll probably be there until at least 7, as I'm sure many others will be. Come on over and have a brat.
