I'm thinking about diving Crystal R. on Friday. I'll bring my own boat (16 ft al w/ 8 hp and trolling motor) to launch and dive. What problems can I anticipate? What other advice does anyone have? Never done this before so all input will be appreciated.

My first suggestion would be to not take your celly with you on the boat. :rofl3::rofl3::rofl3::rofl3: If You cant keep it out of the pool you will definitely loose it in the river.

good advice, wanna go with us?

I have a couple of days I still need to burn. Im asking tommorow when I get to work. Is there gonna be a night dive for the pompano trip? When is that going to be on Saturday night?

Let me know the details for both and ill ask for time off.

Travel Friday am, get to C. River, launch the boat and dive at least 2 of 3 sites hopefully all three. should be a 2 tanker. I hope to be back around 6:30.

I would love to meet you and have you along, things are in flux right now, keep checking back, I'm diving somewhere Friday...you're invited to join in...one option is Ginnie Springs, there is a group from Tampa meeting there for the weekend...I am actually thinking about doing a charter out of Tampa...your opinion counts so let me know what you feel comfortable doing...

what are you planning on diving on the river. I was there 2 weeks ago. Found that 3 sisters is a great snorkel, but using scuba there is overkill. Kings spring is a nice quick dive. There is a nice little plaque, and a short swim through cavern. Other than real shallow in spots and manatees, you shouldn't have much problems on the river.

Be very careful to observe the rules about areas which require "idle speed" or "no wake" operation and avoid areas that are designated as sanctuaries for the manatees. I understand they take such rules very seriously there and there can be some pretty stiff penalties.

I've heard the same things....and thanks for the input. I'll be using an alum. 16' w/ 8hp motor & 40 Lb trolling motor. the trolling motor will be my preference since it is safer for the manatees but I don't know what the current is like or how long the ride will be.
I'm actually considering waiting on this for another day and getting salty....
