Okay, I realize with a post like this I am opening myself up to a slew of entertaining comments, but I read this on another board, and I wondered if there was any truth to it:

"My husband has been told by a few people that there are worms on the beaches of Cozumel that enter your body through the bottoms of your feet is you do not wear shoes? Does any one know if this is true or not? We are planning a trip down there at the end of July and I would like to put my husbands mind at ease before we go. Thanks for any info."

Anyhoo, sounds real gross. Please tell me it's a load of you-know-what.

on the beach here for over 2 years...and I don't have any worms that I am aware of!

That is a silly mother's myth to keep their kids from walking around barefooted!

No squigly creatures in my feet in the last 4 trips to Coz.

This is not a realistic worry.

Go & have fun.

Best regards.

The only worms you'll need to be concerned with are the ones at the bottom of the tequila bottle. :D :boozer: :boozer:

Those look like the type of worms some of my clients feed (so I have to as well) to their geckos. I wonder what a drunk gecko looks like .....probably not a pretty site.

The only worms you are likely to get (and they are not really worms) won't enter your body through your feet nor will they exit through them. Keep your mouth closed when taking a shower and try hard not to continue that lifelong practice of brushing your teeth with the sink faucet. Mexico does not chlorinate their tap water, they only filter it. You never know whats alive in it. When I was in Cozumel last month the hotel owner laughed when I asked her if she drank the tap water. Her response was "hell no, are you crazy?":shades:

Watch out for the worms at the airport trying to sell time shares....

Man, I was almost assulted by those people after stepping into
the airport the last time I was there ...

Have FUN diving in Cozumel !!!!

Dive safe
