Brought home a small souvenir from the trip, a Fire Coral burn. Not too bad, but something to remind me how much I miss diving already! I'll be back in Apr/May 2014 (fingers crossed!)

Us too! It might have been hydroid though due to the delayed reaction...

Justin, I'm betting that's what mine is. I think I know when I brushed against something on the dive; I recall a itching sensation, but didn't pay much attention. It was this past Wednesday that I noticed the welts on my hand. Will keep an eye on it, but doesn't seem like much of a concern. I'd still rather be diving.

We returned from Coz. last Saturday. Fantastic week of diving with Dive Paradise.

Funny how people can have completely different perspective about a dive operation... I was in Coz for 2 weeks, first week was with Dive Paradise... If I had left after that first week I would never go back to Cozumel...! The second week of diving is what changed our impression, fantastic but with another dive operation... FYI, weather had nothing to do with it as it pretty much rained for the entire two weeks we were there. I found DP very unorganized and would not or did not group divers of the same skill set...

Our week with them was a total disappointment...

Which dive operation in Cozumel was the good one Lee? I'm stopping there next month on a cruise.

Greetings to All Divers!

Just returned from Cozumel Nov 13-24. Stayed at the Hotel Cozumel & Resort (as in the previous 12x) and it was a good trip. The island is coming alive with the upcoming preparations for the Cozumel Ironman Triathlon and Christmas just around the corner. Got wet with Dive Paradise at the resort and then with Opal’s Dream Dive Shop, my buddies for the longest time. Visited the following sites: La Francesa, Palancar Gardens and Caves, Chankanaab Bolones, Punta Tunich, San Clemente, Santa Rosa Wall, Tormentos, Paraiso, Colombia, Yucab, Dalila, and Cedral Wall and as you can "see’" I was a tad busy! Got rewarded with "La Piece De Resistance," a nice Spotted Eagle Ray munching on a conch just lazily flying around us just chillin’, truly an awesome sight. Got to see a couple of Caribbean Reef and a Nurse shark splashing around the place, also some Pipe Horses. There are still a couple a resident adult Green Morays to say hi! to you as you drift by. The usual lobsters, (Spanish) and regular crabs, and your assorted critters. Had some nice chicken tacos at both El Pique and Taqueria Diaz and some goood fish tacos at La Hach! Mission Accomplished, already planning # 13, what are you waiting for??? And before I forget, MUCHAS GRACIAS to all that offered advice on the backplate system. I recently purchased one and tried it on this trip, it was awesome, very comfortable and economical as I am only using 10 lbs and plan to reduced a bit more next time, much obliged!!!

Phil, my first time in Coz diving was off a cruise ship... I did my homework and from all that I read, I chose Aldora and never regretted that decision. I always knew when I returned to dive it would be with Aldora and they really did save my trip this time! Cost a few dollars more but oh so worth it. Men dive 120 steels and women dive 100's. They understand how the cruise ships work and will ensure you make it back in plenty of time but I believe all dive ops do as well. I know there has to be some very fine dive ops as some will argue but when I return to Coz, I will be diving again with Aldora.

Here is their dive shops website and they have a USA number to call (210) 569-1203... Aldora's website

FYI, the first week was arranged through a dive shop here in the US, actually my local dive shop that I support. I let the owner know my thoughts regarding the first week; it was a all inclusive, hotel was fine (Hotel Cozumel) food was plentiful but at best average and closer to poor, the dives ops forgetful...!

After all this time, I think the biggest thing I learned is; dive operations can influence a dive experience but equally important are the divers on the boat!

Respectfully, lee

Justin & Kerry: Add me to the list of a small hydroid souviner from Cozumel. I was trying to show a fellow diver who was hanging way back where the Splendid Toadfish was hiding. :D

Since we left our dive bags there for our final return in January; we had no checked bags so we also escorted two dogs from the Cozumel Humane Society to Toronto to find new homes with T.E.A.M. Dog Rescue.

Hydroid stings are the pits, but if you can force yourself not to touch them - at all - they soon fade away. Mine are usually gone before I get back on the boat. I can always tell which ones I touched or rubbed against something!

I get that lovely purple hue to the skin under water that tells me, "yes, yes you did touch that...."
