Cozumel Incident 9/4/11

No you are right by all means let's refer to 2 of the divers in this thread as divemasters when nobody has posted any facts to back that up. Posters have been arguing for 83 pages about the details of this incident and I have asked since the very beginning what exactly their certifications were in order to properly discuss and or criticize the incident or those involved. I don't care what you or any other poster calls divers in Cozumel, for the purposes of this discussion I think it is very relevant to know EXACTLY what their level of expertise was at the time.

Why don't you just assume they are the president and vice president of PADI and see if that makes any real difference in terms of the cause of this accident.

They were very experienced divers, particularly considering experience in Cozumel.

If, in fact, these folks are PADI professionals I would think it would be easy enough to verify ... and if they've been running a PADI business in Cozumel for any length of time at all, I would think that if their credentials were not valid, PADI or their competitors would've made that known by now.

I said the website refers to Padi training....in other words the owner represents Padi. We have no idea who the other 2 divers are affiliated with. Who said anything about the business credentials not being valid?

2) Using the word "professional" when referring to any of these divers about this incident is a mistake. It appears one of them had a professional affiliation as an owner but most certainly did not act like it in this incident.
3)IMO after 84 pages we still don't know the exact level of expertise of the 3. I think it is valid to the discussion.....I guess you don't agree.

Your vendetta in this case has been obvious since you first posted in the first thread. You just want to convict; we know...

DM/Dive Guide are interchangeable terms in most vacation destinations. The experience level of the DM/DG in this accident is quite well established. We know you don't like him but he was quite qualified whether he had the same card as a quarry trained DM or not. Drop it already. Yeah, they were both dive pros in their daily lives. They made poor choices in their plan and the dive went to hell. You do not need to crucify the two and you will not be able to here. Maybe you're doing that on other boards but drop it here.

Do you know for a fact that the owner and/or other "professional" on the dive are not divemasters? That seems to be what you are implying. I was told the owner is a dm as well as the other professional.

so now that the thread has degenerated into penis comparisons of deep dives, which is awesome for illuminating the true fools on this board wouldn't it be a good idea to have an update on the three divers?
Is gabi paralyzed from the neck down, will opal ever walk?
This is a great thread to have newbies read so they understand NOT to listen to "old salts" who claim they know better.

Gabi still has no feeling in his lower body. They're hoping to get him to Cancun this week for an MRI and to see a neurologist to determine the best course of further treatment. Opal is in Miami, still paralyzed from the neck down, on a ventilator and feeding tube. They have been able to replace the intubation tube with a trach this week, but have not yet been able to put in a peg feeding tube. From the updates the family has posted on the fb page, she's had a real roller coaster ride and is in no way out of the woods yet. If or to what extent she'll recover seems to still be an unknown. Not much being said about Heath. It seems he's also still in Miami in hospital, but walking and doing quite well, at least in relation to the other two. He's posting in the fb page, but nobody is really saying much about how he is physically. Both Gabi and Opal's family have set up their own bank accounts now and have been asking for donations to assist with their day to day living, NOT medical expenses, but to help Gabi & his family just pay their living expenses, and Opal's account is for her mother to be able to fund the extended stay in Miami. She has to be there as Opal can't make her own medical decisions at this point. Over the last few weeks, updates have been less frequent. Understandable since there's really not been any improvement or positive changes, and the families are dealing with the day-to-day care.

You are an "bleepin' bleep bleep". Of course he accused you of a vendetta....because it is painfully obvious you have been on this mission since the beginning. Feel free to report this but don't think you are fooling anybody.
