Fourth day diving.
First dive was Palancar Gardens. Water temps same. Visibility same as days before. Overcast and light rain. Seas flat. Slow to non-existent current. 66 minutes dive time. We arrived at Palancar and were the only boat out in the area. There were a few larger lionfish that were speared. I found a nice juvenile spotted drum (photo below). We ended the dive by going to the sand flats to look for batfish or seahorses or anything out of the ordinary but were disappointed. Both dives in Gardens and Horseshoe are silted up a bit.
SI on the boat.
Second dive was La Francesa. Water temps and visibility same. Overcast and seas flat. Slow current. 75 minutes dive time. The reef looked very healthy. Raul spotted a highhat which I haven't seen for awhile. There was a really nice green turtle that came by on the flats to the west of the reef but I was a liitle late in the swim out and got only dark shots as it was going south. There were a couple of very small lionfish that were speared and fed to the fish.
Many of the fish today were giving nice profile shots and let me get closer.
Mosquitoes thick again.
My wife and I, Raul and his wife and our firend Louisa went to dinner at Guidos and as usual, did not disappoint. We made a reservation on Monday for 5 pm but the curfew was changed to 9 pm today. Everyone eats outside (undercover) and they have the tables separated. Since it rained and was overcast, it was not hot in that seating area. They offer a 15% discount for cash.
Highhat
Giant hermit crab
Stoplight parrotfish
Yellow stingray
Whitespotted filefish - orange phase. It's partner had just the white spots.
