I spent a week trying to find as much info as I could about a few operators. Yesterday I decided that it was silly and emailed Liquid Blue to see if they still had space before going to their web site to make my res. Well, too late. They're only available for 2 of the 3 days. Since I've already confirmed all our plans in Akumal pre-Coz, I can't switch dates.

Sounds like Living Underwater will be my best alternative (Blue XT Sea was already booked and referred me to LB). So I've contacted them today and keeping my fingers crossed. I'd prefer to dive with the same op since it's just a short 4 nt trip.

Lesson learned. Don't overthink and second guess, just book the diving! But I'm sure we'll have a great time with LU too.

When are you going (just wonder how far in advanced they are booked)?

It really doesn't matter if you get to dive Rick... remember you are going on this trip for your wife's sake. If it doesn't work out just go ahead and spend the time with her relaxing on the beach and.... shopping. :D

Have you tried booking with the Cancun or PDC operators? They Dive Cozumel too.
Just a thought. I will be diving Cozumel thru a Cancun operator.

Cancun and PDC operators don't dive Cozumel everyday and they visit predetermined sites. They may make a trip or two a week over here at most. They also charge more because they have MUCH more fuel costs to get over here and back. Finally, not all of them have marine park permits to dive Cozumel. This would be a last resort option.

Thanks Christi, I know they cost more for the reasons you mentioned but it is also a supply and demand issue. If they don't have any other way it was just an idea.
But it seems there are so many operators that they should be able to find something on the fly in Cozumel. Does this sound possible? You know better than I.

You are correct. Finding an operator on the fly in Cozumel is always possible, it just most likely won't be your first, second, third or fourth choice. For example, I know that this week Liquid Blue, Alison, Living Underwater, Blue Angel, Deep Blue, Papa Hogs, Aqua Safari, me, and Scuba Du are booked, as I'm sure many others are. The operators that MAY have space are the larger operations like Dive Paradise, Dive Palancar, Aqua World, Dressel, etc. but they get booked up too.

My recommendation to people is always to make your diving arrangements in advance, especially if you have hotel and air booked already. Otherwise, you may find yourself having to dive op hop or dive a less regular schedule. Make sense?

Official high season is Thanksgiving through April/May. Hotels and dive ops are OFTEN at full capacity and booked well in advance. Carnival and Spring Break week are examples of times when you should REALLY plan ahead.

Hope this helps.

What kind of jimberas is this!

Dear Scubawife,

Try www.bottomtimedivers.net Raul has a small fast boat 6 max and you dive your computer and air. I was just there and all dives were 1 hour+. He is not big on ads so he probably has got space for you. I have been with Christi at bluextsea and with Michealla and Roberto at Liquid Blue and Raul basically gives the same service. He even got me on the Liquid Blue boat when he had nobody else but me and he can't make money with one diver. He will go out with as little as 2 divers.
HE IS ALSO A REAL NICE GUY AND WILL DO ANYTHING TO MAKE YOU HAPPY!!!
Lou
