45 days and trying not to think about it too much. It's not working. Every time I see a Corona beer commercial... heavy sigh.

I don't really care for their beer (I'm more into Leon Negra and Negra Modela), but the ad agency that does their commercials, now there's an outfit I wouldn't mind working for!

34 days till I'm in Cozumel. What's the best place to rent a car/jeep for a day or two? Last time, like a fool, I paid over $65.00 for a jeep. I was however coming off of a cruise ship and just went to Enterprise right there at the pier. There must be something in town for a bit less ????? Thanks

Renting a car in Coz is far more expensive than it is here. Yes you can get better "deals" but personally I prefer staying with name that exist in the states. I've had nothing but bad luck with the mom & pop car rental places, including Smart Car which I tried because it was highly recomended on a board. Their $20 POS wound up costing me over $60 by the time they quit making up fees (of course all the fee's were made up when the car was returned). American Express to the rescue again.

One big difference is insurance. Many people assume their regular policy or credit card will cover them, which is often not the case out of the country. As well the credit cards only cover damage to the vehicle, not liability or medical.

The other thing you should do is stay away from Jeeps. They cost a lot more for nothing, you are not allowed to take them off road anyway.

There are several places in town to rent cars, but make sure you do a visual inspection of what you'll be renting before you sign up. There is (or at least was) a fairly reasonable rental place next to the Plaza las Glorias.

My advice is not to spend too many BTU's trying to save 20 bucks, though. $65 is not that bad a price.

Well, in a few days I can officially say that I'll be in Coz next month. Can't wait 'til May. I'll have to stop reading the Cozumel forum, it's making me too antsy.

Quick question, are full foot fins ok for Coz diving? My buddy has a pair of these, along with a pair of Mares Volos. He's hesitant to buy a pair of 3mm tropical boots to use with his Volos in Cozumel since he has the full foot fins (cheap sporting goods variety). Should I push him to buy the boots or let him be? We'll be doing mostly boat diving, with some shore diving mixed in.

Thanks,

Mel

I've used full foot fins in Coz. I don't like them there because of the currents as the FFF's don't stay on your feet as well. I'm curious why your friend would need to buy new boots? I use my 7mm boots everywhere and my feet have never been hot.
