Natasha - what cruise line & when? Just wondering if we're on the same cruise by any chance!

Royal Caribbean's Grandeur of the Seas

Natasha ... bummer! We go the week before you - 11/20-11/27 on the Grand Princess out of Galveston ... depart 11/20, 11/21 day at sea, 11/22 Belize, 11/23 Costa Maya, 11/24 Grand Cayman (hopefully!), 11/25 Cozumel, 11/26 day at sea, 11/27 return to Galveston.

Maybe next year .... we've already booked the 11 day Celebrity ship Galaxy - Panama Canal cruise for next November (24th) 2005 .... couldn't resist the price - it was a steal when we booked! And it also departs from Galveston, so no flying hassles!

Kat:
You're going to love the Grand Princess. I sailed on her last year out of Ft. Lauderdale.

I was invited to a lunch for travel agents on the Galaxy next Saturday. If I can get off of my other job, I'm going!

I have put passengers on her, and they have loved it!

Have fun on both ships!

The Granduer will be my 15th cruise!

Natasha .... hope you get to sneak out for lunch!! We have a couple of dive buddies that will be departing on the Grand that day. The Grand will be our 7th, but 1st Princess. We've done 5 Celebrity - which we love. I'm just SO glad that more ships are using Galveston as a home base!

Hope you have a great time on your cruise ... looking forward to hearing how it went when you return!!

Hello Fellow Divers!
I am posting to provide specific information on the diving options in Mahahual (sometimes spelt Mahajual), which is the town in Costa Maya where the cruise ships dock. My email address is dreamtimetanya@hotmail.com and I can provide answers to every question you may have. I have been in Mahahual diving for the past 7 months.

At present, there are 2 PADI dive centres in Mahahual. The first is Blue Ha Diving Centre located at mile marker 2.7 on the main (and only) road of Mahahual. There, they offer diving on the local reef which is visible from the shore of Mahahual. This is the Meso-American Barrier Reef system, the largest Barrier Reef system in the Northern Hemisphere, which runs from north to south, in finger formations - creating lots of canyons and swim throughs!! They have a range of sites they choose from each day, depending on diver experience, desired depth, local conditions, etc. Because the reef is so close to the shore - no more than a 10 minute boat ride, they go back to the centre for surface intervals. Check out their website at www.bluehadiving.com.

The other dive centre is called Maya Palms, which is located 10 km out of town on a rough dirt road. I do not have too much information about them, but their website address is www.mayapalms.com.

Once again, feel free to contact me directly regarding Diving In Mahahual, Costa Maya! My name is Tanya, and I will be happy to receive emails to dreamtimetanya@hotmail.com and give you guys all the information you need!

I'm cleared to go on the Galaxy this Saturday for lunch! I can't wait!

Costa Maya is a purposelly built Cruise ship dock. Right next door is the town of Mahahual. Only five minutes away by taxi or bus. Inthe town there are 3 dive centres. Blue Ha, Bucanero del Caribe and Mexdive. Just outside of the town only 6 mikles away is Maya Palms Resort.

Maya Palms resort and Blue Ha are the only PADI centres. They may be contacted at mayapalmsdiving"hotmail.com or tanyadreamtime@hotmail.com

If you need information check out http://www.mayapalms.com or http://www.bluehadiving.com
