Carnival dropped Cayman and took us to Coste Maya instead, short visit, we saw the ruins (1 hr bus ride). Waited to dive at Cozumel, second port of call.

We have found two Ops so far that handle scuba in Costa Maya/Mahahual ..... one is run by Maya Palms Resort (I stopped there a few years ago when it was Maya Ha Resort and it's a bit of drive south of town) but they apparently set up in town for cruise ship days - they can be e-mailed at mayapalmsdiving@hotmail.com ... and then there's Blue Ha Diving - bluehadiving.com .... we had a bit more trouble reaching them by e-mail, but I think they changed their e-mail address recently .... haven't tried either one yet, but we're booked with Douglas at Maya Palms for our cruise stop in November ......

In the summer of 2003 I was on a Carnival Cruise and stopped in Costa Maya. At the time I couldn't find any operations on the web for Costa Maya and Carnival didn't offer any scuba trips in Costa Maya. I booked with a vendor in the shopping mall in Costa Maya and ended up going out with Blue Ha. I had two lovely relaxed 40 minute dives to 70 feet. On the first dive there were two divers with the divemaster and on the second it was just the divemaster and myself. We saw a turtle and a spotted eagle ray. The coral was beautiful. Blue Ha uses steel 95 from Europe. My regulator wouldn't fit on their tanks so they lent me a reg. It was an enjoyable experience.

Douglas who was at Blue ha is now running the MAYA PALMS RESORT dive operation. We cater for cruise ship divers and also people on vacation. Check out http://www.mayapalms.com. This was the old resort known as Maya Ha but is under new ownership. We along with XTC diving in Xcalak are the only Authorised persons to take divers to Chinchorro Banks. I collected my permission on the 29 Sept 2004.

Hello there. My name is Jono and my partner Tanya and I run the only dive centre in the actual town of Mahahual. There is another dive resort just outside of town, but let me tell you about us. The name of the shop is called Blue Ha. We are located at the south end of town and if you want please contact us at dreamtimetanya@hotmail.com or look up our website at www.bluehadiving.com We will be happy to take you out on the second largest barrier reef in the world. We are two Australians who come from the Great Barrier Reef and find the diving here remarkable. Please let us know if we can help you out in any way.
Thanks much, JONO
