Currents near the shore at Cozumel can be loco any time of year.

I found on a dive yesterday that reverse current/slightly colder temps are also happening in Cancun. I didn't notice the temp change much, though my buddy got a bit chilled. Also, while the current was reversed, it didn't seem as strong as when I dove the same area a few weeks ago. The only bummer is that the switch took our DM by surprise, so we dropped in on the wrong end of the first dive, and had to swim against the current a bit. D'oh!

the last two days on palancar have been mild current and normal water temps the captain and divemaster
(mario and francisco on the jewfish) have been spot on in their predictions

I dont know, we dove palancar bricks yesterday, currents were swirling, sand in the water column, we were pushed, pulled, and ended up kicking our @#$% off. Sucked our air out in 40 minutes. Worse dive I have had on the island ever. Sand tornados inside the reef wall. Totally crazy.

Bummer. Certainly the strange currents haven't disappeared...they are just moving around. I was on the boat with kentmorrdave for the past few days. Yesterday our Palancar dives were at Caves and today at Gardens. Current was nominal at both. "Logged about 85 minutes at each. Sorry yours were less than optimal. Just these conditions, I guess!
