hello

I just bought a conshelf se 1st and 2nd reg with an octo, i am new to the sport and i was wondering if anyone else has these regs or has dove them and what your opinion of them is. i searched for conshelf se but i can only find posts about the se2. thanks.

The SE and SE2 are essentially the same reg. I haven't dived either, but have owned and used both earlier and later Conshelfs - the XIV and the 22. They're all good regs.

It's a great old reg. While it may not pull the numbers a new upper end reg might be able to pull on a machine, you and I are not machines and you'll find for many types of diving the SE was a great reg in it's day and remains a bulletproof workhorse even today. And they're pretty inexpensive to service as well
Enjoy it

The SE is essentially the same as any other Conshelf.
The only (slight) downside are the 1/2" ports and their placement. Check the yellow 2nd for hairline cracks where the hose enters the body,

Not unusual for the yellow cases to have cracks (especially the yellow yellow ones...rather than the neon yellow ones), it can happen with the black...but much less common.

Combination of brittle plastic and not using two spanners to remove the hose.....good thing is, if it hasn't cracked in the last 25 years it probably won't now.

@ Scubanooby: Inside, the SE is identical to that Conshelf XIV you bought. I have an SE among my collection. It's a good reg. I'm using 1/2" to 3/8" adapters to use standard LP hoses on it.

Have you had the Conshelf XIV serviced yet?
