I own a conshelf and would like to use it as a travel reg. I've recently serviced one and was surprised, with the help of Herman's tool and retaining clip pliers also courtesy of Herman, at how easy it was. I'n my quest to have to carry as few tools as possible is there a way around removing the retaining clips without using pliers? I'm keen to try any work arounds. Thank you.

I've used two small Allen wrenches.. Also used screw drivers to get them out over the year.. But a cheap pair of snap ring pliers that swap from inners to outer snap rings is the hands down way to go.. Nothing like the right tools for the job.. The ones I have in my travel dive kit are like $3.00 buck from harbor freight.. You could get a good pair from Craftsman for $12.00 bucks..

Jim..

Cheers Jim. Finding ones that a) are reversible and b) with pins small enough proved impossible for me over here. Herman very kindly picked up inner and outer ones for me. A small pair of reverseables for travel would be perfect, sometimes I wish i lived in the US.

You know you can just leave to larger one off, all it does is prevent you from removing the yoke. I do not use one on my Kraken because I remove the yoke for travel.

Thanks Herman, that makes sense, I never thought about that. It's not really a big deal, was just thinking about just how little total gear I could get away with if on a dive travel adventure, more of a dream than a reality anyway. Cheers.
