I have recently acquired a Conshelf 21 regulator, primary and octo that I plan to use as my back-up regulator. I understand Conshelf regs are excellent for learning how to service regulators and parts are readily available. I would like to overhaul the regs myself and would appreciate advice on resources, tools, and parts needed to do the job myself.

vintagedoublehose.com and /u/herman, a user here on SB.

VDH has some excellent how to videos. Both VDH and herman can get you any specialty tools you might want or need. I hope that you understand what you're getting into. Gamblers have 1-800 numbers to call for help. Around here they just feed the addiction, feed the addiction.

Scubatools.com if you have any money left over that you need to spend.

Get the Regulator Savvy book there.

Vintagedoublehose.com also has the conshelf repair/service manuals that are free to download

I see you are in Cary. I am close by if you want any of the tools I make...I can bring them to a Down Under meeting if you are a member...or just want to come to a meeting, all are welcome.
The main tool you would need from me is the HP nozzle assembly tool (aka crown block assembly tool), the rest are fairly common had tools. One common tool I suggest you avoid are the inexpensive circlip pliers. None of them work well, esp the ones that do both internal and external. The best (reasonable) one I have found is this Jenson one, you will want a good one.

You will find this video helpful too.
Maybe not well made, produced or narrated but despite all that I hope you get some helpful information from it :)

It was pretty bad. All half a dozen times (plus #7 in the background, now) that I've watched it. :)

Thanks for all of the advice! Herman - I recently joined Down Under Divers and plan to attend the meeting this Tuesday (4/9). Perhaps I will see you there.
