my first computer was an Aeries X2, simple great computer I followed it through several hundred ocean dives, then I bought an Aeries manta for my wife but it was too complicated and she took my X2, then she gave me an oceanic geo 2 for my birthday, well now I dive with both the manta and the geo on the same arm because why not.

they read 3 ft different, and the manta went into serious deco at the end of a 35ft dive when the geo showed G2G. well the manta is a bit old, like maybe 5 years and has many hundreds of dives on it, but it is not blinking "I am old leave me home" yet so I use it as an unreliable backup. one of the divemasters in Coz, has a computer with over 10,000 dives on it and his showed same depth as the Geo.

So is the manta scrap? or is it following a different algorithm? does setting the conservative factor increase the depth? should we be following devices that vary by so much? am I safe in the water with an electronic device
? is skynet trying to kill me? these are questions I have.
