I was unable to pee in my suit last weekend. Not because of the clean or not clean issue. I was trianed in advanced survival (recycling fluids). It was a very painful swim back my bladder was very cramped. Must have lost a liter afterwards. Haven't been in that much pain since after a surgery and they remove the cath too soon.

hahahaha yea, I had to get over my mother's voice "never pee in the swimming pool, kids!" It takes some practice. Soon you will work up to auto pee, any stroke, any time. it takes a while. I don't know, carl, I think you should work on this, if it's an issue.

seriously, I did not think you re-absorbed urine from the baldder. or H20. gotta find out about that one! where are the biologists when you need them??

Sorry for the confusion. I was trying to be delicate. "Recycling" urine means drink it!!! A theoretical exersize, never had to try it. And yes, my mothers voice is definately inside my head. I think I was potty trained at gun point.

Oh no, we definitely don't want to inquire into what sort of Freudian fall-out this has resulted in... :D

I have always heard no. You also expend energy (how much I dont know) keeping that urine warm, so it is in your best interest to pee early and often.

Hot liquids between dives are nice but I am not sure how much warmth they impart. 160 lbs of chilly diver is not going warm much from the addition of 16 oz of warm liquid. Something sweet with a simple sugar is going to get you warmer whether it is hot or cold.

The warmth of something hot makes me feel warmer and my preference is hot cocoa for the sugar. I also pour hot water, if available, into my booties before putting them back on. Sends a warm rush up my body.

The pee issue with a drysuit is a serious downside for a woman. Diapers don't sound appealing either. Yet, I think Catherine would not look fat, but would look very fetching in a DUI all-black drysuit. You can get a cave-cut where you don't have all that baggy fabric.

How do you get everything off on a boat without beating the guys off with a bat? :)

By peeing in your wet suit

yea, --isn't that an old trick if you get "attacked".
cave-cut, huh? okay, redhat I should've known you would pipe in with some fashion tips. Somehow this whole "hot" myth got perpetuated and if anyone ever sees me in real life they are going to be very dissapointed! Someday, I will dive in a dry-suit hopefully. I hear Vancouver is beautiful. those giant octopus sound..scarey in poor viz though.

There is some risk of skin bends with too hot water after a dive. We have not had any problems with this, with many, many dives & divers. We keep an eye on the water temp, cut off the heater when it's between 115 and 120 degrees. And we don't have enough for everyone to just take a hot shower, either. A few shots to warm up the suit & cut the chill, and a nice, warm fresh water rinse after the last dive once the suit is off.

One boat has a cabin with a door we can close & and electric heater. If it's really cold & windy, we crowd in there & warm the place up. Makes for a crowded but very warm SI :D

henderson semi-dry should solve your problems -fits like a wetsuit - no water exchange though so peeing isnt an option
