I am looking for some info on diving the Comal River. Where to dive and the directions. You can PM me or reply here. Many thanks in advance!

Ron, when you find out something, please let me know. I want to dive the Comal sometime this year, too.

Sounds like a possible Swampers trip!

Here's a site with directions. This leads you to a great place to put in.

No camping there, but there is an RV park just up river that you can camp at. Prety neat, actually. You can hop in and drift dive down to the main dive site.

It a fun little dive. Right in front of the parking that this web site has directions to, you'll see the stairs leading down to the water. Look upriver, and you'll see where to put in (the furthest stairset leading into the water). Drift down, and have a blast, but pop your head up every once in a while (It's very shallow) so you don't end up going through the "chutes". I used to do certifications there and have dove it quite a bit. (Now living in Florida). If you need more info, PM me and I can put you in contact with someone who goes there pretty regularly.

Dive safe!

I go there rather frequently, at least until I discovered Aquarena. here's a link to Fat Boy Scuba's review and information.

You can also link to my own review here.

Landa RV park has directions on it's site, and additional info. A lot of divers use Landa Park for the entry point, and leave a parked car at the end near the tube chute (BEFORE the tube chute!). There's a cutesy park there with a playground.

That's the one! Landa RV Park........I'd forgotten the name.

Pices went this past weekend . You could contact them here in Austin as well.
I would like to get in some diving there as well as the San Marcus river.

We have not dove the river in some time. They are trying to protect the wild rice (only place it grows) and a blind salamander. The river has almost been taken over by elephant ears and hydrilla because of this. There are a few spots left you can dive, but where you use to be able to go from the falls by Joes Crab Shack to the dam at Rio vista park is almost impassable. The recent floods 98 and 02 have filled the river with gravel & caliche runoff from the construction at the University. It is shallow and has some sand bars. We still enjoy the river but it ain't what it use to be. Let's go diving!

At the San Marcos river, I get in beyond the university at the first of those river parks, and park a car at the last of them before you hit the freeway. There's a good place to get out there.

The Fat Boy has a different review, where they went in further downstream. I've never heard of anyone doing the dive up at Joe's Crab Shack, and figured it'd be off-limits 'cuz of the Texas Wild Rice.
