Parting Thoughts​

CocoView Resort is very popular and books up; if you want to go, book well in advance if possible. Nov. 24 I contact them asking about late spring availability around 1st week of May. They were completely booked that week, but for May 8-15 had one ocean front and one ocean view room available. I’m very happy with my experience and have no regrets choosing CocoView Resort for my Roatan trip. There are so many good destinations I likely won't become a Coco Nut (5 stays), and Bonaire remains my favorite destination.

But this trip was something special...

P.S.: That blasted remora where we donned and doffed fins swarmed my legs and somehow pinched me a couple of times. I nick-named it Frisky Pete. Thankfully he was only there the once I know of.

Oh, another diver e-mailed me a couple of photos from the trip.

Our group aboard the Coco II. (I'm in the middle with the mask on my forehead. Yes, I do that...). You see the center well we can come up when reboarding.

And this shot was taken by the bar tender at a place called Hole in the Wall we stopped at one day.

Captain Marcos is on the far left, and our guide Ruben is 4th from the left, wearing a yellow towel. If you stop here, be careful messing with the capuchin monkey...someone said it bit her (must've been a nip; she didn't seem upset).

What a fantastic report! Thank you for sharing ... from a fellow introvert ... although I do drink which makes me a bit less of an introvert.

As always, an amazing trip report. We've gone to CoCo View twice with our LDS. Everything you describe is exactly how we experienced it. It was great to see your pics and remember our trips. One thing I really liked was spending 30 minutes or so in the tall grass in the front porch after drop-offs or at the end of a night dive. Lots of little things to see. On one dive my computer read water temp of 92 degrees...it was only about 3 feet of water. Sorry that the conditions limited your night dives. We did have a funny experience in that we explained that my wife was a vegetarian but not vegan, so we said, "things like eggs, beans, etc. are fine". So, every night they brought her two hard boiled eggs and a small bowl of beans...to go with the buffet. After the third night my wife explained that the buffet had plenty to make her happy and they need not keep bringing the eggs and bean. Thanks again for the usual "drrich amazing" trip report. Your Galapagos one convinced us to book for January 2022, but we'll have to get by without the Arch and be happy with just pillars.

Nicely done! Glad you had a great trip. I really would have gotten a kick out of your report had you written that after your sting, Captain Marcos peed on it later!! Ha ha! Glad he had vinegar instead though.

Thanks for the trip report. I may want to book a trip with Coco View just to board the boat through the bat tunnel. Or like out of a Bond movie.

Hi Richard,

Nice to see that you got in a good dive trip early in your retirement.

Coco View must have been fully occupied or nearly so. The dining room appears pretty full. How many divers were on the Coco II? It looks to hold quite a few, perhaps wasn't run at capacity. Did everyone go with the guide for the first part of the dive?
