We will be staying (for a week) at this VERY small resort in December 2019-January 2020...how do you divers handle the restrictive baggage on the small flights? I'd hate for us to get there and our gear not make it :O

Tropic and Mayan Air are pretty accommodating when it comes to luggage. Lot of divers.
I knew the guy who helped build and start Coco Plum. Nice, centralized location.

What restrictions? Is this new?

I accept that my carry on will go in under the plane but I roll it out to the plane myself just before boarding. Even that though is over kill.

Tropic Air only allows small carry-on that fits in your lap and says extra checked bags fly on a space available basis. We flew Tropic from Caye Caulker to Belize City once and had two checked each. Our flight was sold out. In order to ensure that we (or rather our bags) made the connecting flight home, Tropic suggested we bring them to the airport in the morning before the 9am flight (they had hourly flights and we were around noon). We arrived in BZE and there was a Tropic rep holding a sign with our name who took us over to where our bags were stored with tags with our name attached.

Both Tropic Air and Maya claim to have published restrictions on luggage, but thankfully neither of them enforce it. I've showed up with all my gear plus stuff I'm bringing down for friends and never had any issues.

But the planes are so small that they will make you check pretty much everything, including your roller carry-on bag, that's bigger than a standard size purse. There's no overhead or under the seat storage so whatever you take has to fit on your lap.

No big deal. The puddle jumpers are all short rides and it's nice not to have to lug your bags around.

Bringing your bags in early is a good idea if you're on a tight schedule. A few years ago, Tropic moved me up a flight to Placencia but my bags were held until the original flight so I had to return to the Placencia airport to pick them up. Next time I'll ask whether my luggage will be going with me before I let them move me up again.
