Cleaning Rust Off a Dive Knife

Does this every make you wish you would have bought Titanium?

Ours become rusty after one trip. We had no idea that Stainless Steel would rust.
 
If like me you are not a fan of elbow grease try this.

put your knife in a shallow bath of white vinegar and then spoon some baking powder onto the areas that are rusted.

Works quite quickly and no effort involved.

After the rust is gone if you don't often use your knife (who does except for opening illegal fish traps) try giving it a coat of clear varnish or even the clear nail varnish if your wifes not looking)

won't effect the steel (be carful of plastic handles while the varnish is wet) and will protect against corrosion.

By the way its always easier/better to do this if you remove the handle first.

I found a Titanium knife last summer :)
But I dont have a case for it yet!!
