Why do you need a reel for a SMB?----$10+ finger spool will do the trick...

In Cozumel the current can be pretty fierce. I will launch my SMB from say 30 feet, so the boat will know where I'm at. As I'm going up I want to be able to reel in my smb without entangling the line. I just figured it would be harder to get the line back on the spool without a reel. Who knows, maybe I'm off base with that line of thinking.

you can always use a double ender clipped onto the line as a "handle" to help you rewind onto a spool.
