Oh God, but it ranks second in virtual tourist as most popular spot in TH!

can people just travel and not have sex?!

p.s. mike, i dont need a DOM. not yet. :rofl3:

Mike Veitch:
From what i understand Pattaya is all the "discos" in the philippines wrapped into one and degenerated 50 x...

But if you want to find yourseld a DOM then its the place to go!

oh, and the diving sux

rhadamantus:
i guess you cannot always rely on recommendations given by drunk divers in sabang bars after their umpth serving of gintonic.

:rofl3:!!! that explains it... I can definitely see the drunk "crowd" at sabang recommending Pattaya...

you might want to pass on Pattaya... Think of it as a Angeles City on the beach (a pathetic beach to say). Murky deep wrecks in terms of diving (or so I've heard).

Or you could ask Larry, I think his travels may have taken him to Pattaya...

Partly because of the sewage pipes that discharges right into the sea at the main beach. Can't see much in the water with things floating around.

On the bright side, there are plenty of white beached whales getting their suntan on the beach. Watch out for the Russian mafia assassins tho.. you could be mistaken for one of their girlfriends.

West Malaysia is now open for business. Very boring sites tho...

tram, can u recommend some diveshops in phuket? im poor so i need the ones that have reasonable rates and they do not need to pamper me for a charge. :) will appreciate an email!

sorry, PPD. i know this should be in TH section but but but but...

For daytrips out of Phuket (1-2 hour ride to dive sites), the best dive shop/dive boat I've been on is Sea Fun Divers. Great comfortable boats.. lovely DMs and the best lunch buffets. A daytrip for 2 - 3 dives (+ lunch, transfer) should set you back US$100.

If you have more time, consider a LOB out to the Similians. South Siam is the cheapest but they have a very bad reputation for packing divers in. SteveNL, Jamie or Quero in the Thailand rooms are your best contacts for more info.

bali is expensive....and i bought tickets already. :)

but oh...! should i not miss it? roundtrip Mla to ID is Php3,444!

Mike Veitch:
go to Bali....

Bali is not expensive if you go to the right places....

And yes, should not be missed

dove in both pattaya (didnt do research) two years ago. still regret it. highlight of one dive was a yellow rusting submarine with tourists inside. it was noisy and crushing corals in its path. waste of time and moolah.
phuket was a bit better. did a daytrip. diving was cheap too. but except for the leopard shark, nothing there that you cant find in anilao on a bad day. dove with westcoast divers. 3 dives with buffet lunch and unlimited sandwiches, water and coke, roundtrip ride to and from hotel for 2,800 baht. maybe the liveaboards will take you to better sites. but note that phuket is another plane ride away from bangkok.
