Ireland - no caves only bogs :D
England - horrible little sumps full of brown goo :D
Spain - I don't think so.

France - second only to Florida... Wonderful. The cave diving mecca for Europe.

Look at: http://www.geocities.com/meyraguet/index-page2.html
Or if you speak a little French (or look at the pictures) http://www.plongeesout.com/

There are divable caves also in Italy and in Eastern Europe too.

If you want to stay at home there are some sea caves in Ireland in the northern half of the Island I believe, but never been. The best stuff (I think) on the Atlantic coast in the republic and some on the north coast in NI. Not particularly deep or challenging though as far as I know.

There is a cave section on the forum Grazie suggested (YD) and a (France) trip planned for May - a friend of mine is going. We are there that month also either with our friends from Belgium or with the English lot.

Its nothing like the US - the sites are generaly down a rough track and sometimes permission is needed from the land owner. However, the best known ones are near a road - just turn up and dive. Main problems are finding the sites and getting gas. Best to go with someone that's been before if you can.

The Dordogne/Lot area is spectacular scenery and wonderful food as well.

The Doubs area is about 4 hours south of us here in Luxembourg and offers a few dives. Its flooded out at the minute but should be OK in a few weeks as spring gets started. This is the Jura region and is also fantastic from just a tourist viewpoint. Its right next to the Swiss border (there are a few caves there too) and some lake diving.

There is also a Yahoo group for cave diving in France you can join to look for buddies and help as well as frequent vis reports.

PM me if you need any more info.

Just to update things. I was wrong, there are evidently many divable caves in Spain - have a look at http://www.snoopyloop.com/Top 10 Europe 210107.htm
(I should point out there are also sea caves in Spain - something I ommitted from the last post - I have dived a couple on the island of Menorca)

I'm sorry not to have any more info - I haven't been to Spain for a long time (sadly) and only started cave diving recently.

Your videos are fantastic !
I live in the north west, and caves are much more in the south or in the East.
But, really : I should travel a little bit more in my own country !

Oui!.... There are many opportunities to try cave diving in France. Have a look here:
http://www.congresips.com/

But don't despair there are a few dives in your part of France too. Look for the Résurgence de l’Orbiquet for example....

The diving section of the FFS is also very helpfull.

Dive Site: Dolphin Cave

Location: Medas Islands, L'Estartit, Costa Brava, Spain

Description: Marine reserve cave

Depth: 10 - 30 metres (30 - 100 feet)

Visibility: 5 - 30 metres (15 - 100 feet)

Rating: ****

I dived here in late April several years ago and visibility varied from gin clear to a bad day in Stoney Cove. However when visibility was good it was as good as Malta or the Red Sea. Dolphin Cave can be dived from either end as it is actually a tunnel. The tunnel cn be quite dark so a torch would be useful for looking at things on the floor etc. It is very large so you won't be claustrophobic - about 15m in the middle. You can see the exit as soon as you enter from each end but is a true overhead enviroment so I would recommend this for someone who has had traing past Open Water level.
