Sounds like fun to me. I just got back last night from several weeks on board the ship in the Sea of Cortez. Bit of culture shock when I returned- dark earlier, colder air and sea temps. I'll readjust by the end of the month. Always game to dive. And of course I'm being sent to Belize and Honduras during the depths of the cold soCal winter so I'll survive!

I am in for the 3rd with a buddy. So where is it going to be? Casino Point or Descanso Beach?

I don't know anyone from the board, but it will be good to meet some new people.

At the dive park. I'd like to get a fire going at Descanso after dark... so we can hang out and get silly.

I have only been to the dive park once on the cat express. Debating on renting or bringing tank. I can either lug tank from car to boat and boat to car, and pay 8 bucks for gear haul to casino point. Or save the 8 bucks and just rent tank there for 10 bucks.

What do you usually do?

Depends on your preference. Lugging ALL your gear or renting some.

I am still hoping to be there, probably going to have to rent a wetsuit though since my 7 mil is still back east. Also waiting to see if the wife has they day off to join us.

I have the e8-130... this thing is a complete waterheater, and I lug it. They rent steel 72's, and frankly, I want more time in the pool than a 72 will give me. Plus, I'm already weighted and trimmed out for my own stuff...

Its a short schlep from boat to the cab line, then we grab a cab to the Pointe ($10) We can usually get 4 or 5 of us in the cab. Fills are $5.

If you bring your own tank remember: if you have an O2 clean Cylinder, and have ANY green on it (from that ridiculous tank band to a small O2 clean VIP to even a green knob) THEY WILL NOT FILL YOUR TANK There is this irrational fear that YOUR Nitrox will contaminate their system.... So if you're bringing a tank, make sure you have no Nitrox hoopla on it or else you'll get stiffed.

Got my tix this afternoon... I'm SO ready for this.

I've got my reservation for the 6:30 boat out of Long Beach so I'll get on the Island at around 7:30. I'll be the ugly guy with the grey took, dark glasses and the halcyon backplate.
See you all there!

A bunch of us are on the 8:30 AM... so we'll roll in to the point closer to 10:00. I'll be the ugly guy in the black DUI 50/50 with the Halcyon BP

Well everyone, I talked some with mo2vation about joining up for the dive. I live in Phoenix AZ, but would love to make the trip, I already have the weekend off work and approval from my better half :).

My dilemma is... as of now I can't find a buddy to join me. My wife and usual dive buddy has somehow got a herniated disc in her neck and although she is getting much better, diving is still on hold for her. The other people I know here that dive have other plans- like work etc.

I'm a new diver, only 15 dives, But I believe in self sufficiency underwater and the importance of being a good buddy! I don't want to join up with you guys though if I'll be imposing or holding anybody back. I would totally understand if you think I should not join up with you all/ Would not be offended. Otherwise, let me know if someone needs a buddy and I'll be there!

Tony.
