Dyno Bill,
Very possible, especially to the left of the stairs when there is little surge. It is much quicker to enter and exit there on a crowded Casino Point day.

Sorry we haven't gotten the arrows painted on the Dive Park stairs yet... couldn't find the fast drying paint yet.

SAF25- To wait that long for an air fill is a real problem, especially for those coming from the mainland for a dive day. Sorry it happened to so many people. I dive a HP120 because I get at least two normal dives per fill which helps when there's a long line.

Dr Bill, Avalon derives a fair amount of trade from the diving community. Isnt it possible to shuttle at least rental tanks to a LDS to expedite the process on busier days. It would seem a good idea for the pourpose of customer satisfaction in Avalon.
Just a thought.

DynoBill- I should mention that I have nothing to do with the LDS's in Avalon (other than as a regular customer!). Your suggestion is a good one. In fact John Mello of Catalina Divers Supply (CDS) started trucking tanks into their Pleasure Pier facility to fill them last weekend.

Those with carts can also use therir surface interval to take their tanks into SCUBA Luv or CDS to get fills there.

The incredible crowds of two weeks ago were (hopefully) an aberration. As a reserve the Dive Park has a limited capacity for divers if we are to preserve the marine life there for others to see. There are very few horn sharks these days compared to Descanso/Hamilton or Lover's Cove, suggesting human presence and physical contact may already be a problem for them.

I've noticed on the stairs at Santa Rosa NM that some people like to stop and talk - often with a pair blocking the way completely. Dang, people - stairs are for acending and decending! :upset:

Yes, I'm a controlled Type A, but I hate it when people stand in a doorway, too.
