Quite honestly, I have no sympathy for the cruise industry. The floating petri dishes need to disappear. The environmental harm outweighs the economic benefit. What is everyone going to do when the reefs die out?

A ScubaBoard Staff Message...
Cruise ships can be by sail and divers can arrive by dirigible? My first visit to Cozumel was in 1986. In 1990 I remember sitting in a restaurant watching the tourists come off the cruise ship. Cozumel's economy is based on tourism. Divers are tourists. Cruisers are tourists. I know some shop owners in Cozumel. They close their shops when the cruise ships are not docked. The neighborhood bodegas support families who support businesses that are designed for tourists. Granted there are a lot of tourists at the resorts who came by air. Based on the pandemic hysteria how long will it be before the airlines cut back? There is no right answer
