dive4christ and I will be at BS this Saturday, July 8. Please come and dive together.

BS condition update:

Air: 102 F
Surface: 82 F
at 47ft: 57 F
VIZ: 7ft

And after tomorrow that will all change. It is to cool off and rain so viz will be down for a day or two. I still don't see how you stood it in 102 heat with a wet suit on.

Whatelse could I do at 102 F? golf, waterski, or what............ So, I just thought to dive is the best choice that I can do.... I saw many golf players on the field last Saturday though. I think they are nut given in this weather condition. I know I used to be one of them......:)

I ain't buying the 57 F at 47 feet.

Considering the deepest point in BS is around 52 feet on average (56 ft is the max I've seen after flooding), you had to be pretty close to the bottom. I'll bet you were not there long enough for your gauge to react or it's not working properly. It just doesn't ever get that warm on the botom of BS. I might be able to be convinced of a temp just under or around 50 F, but that usually comes around the beginning of September.

The surface sounds about right and could get a couple degrees warmer depending on how hot the summer stays.

The viz sounds great

I know what you meant. We know that the bottom temp. at BS is the same all year around. You are right. I only stayed at 47ft for 20 seconds. So, I don't think my D9 got the right temperature. Suck! Actually, it shows 52F at between 34.6 ft and 40 ft. So, it must be around 45 F or 47 F. Hey, blame Suunto, not me....;)

The Dives I did two weekends ago with Hoosier I hit 40.1F on one of them on two different computers/watches. It was definately in the 40-42F at the bottom of BS.

On that weekend, mine shows 48 F at 50 ft on both two dives based on my dive manager profile. So, mine is always higher than yours......:06: But, I think 40 F is a little bit low. ;)

From what I remember from my old Viper, it was faster than Uwatech. My Uwatech gauge takes between 10 and 15 minutes at a temp to finally get a correct reading. It's very slow. The 52F at 35 to 40 feet sounds about right.

I only wish it got that warm at depth. I might try a 3 hr dive if it were that warm down there. The most I have been able to stay on the bottom in the low 40s before getting to cold is about 90 minutes, and that was in 400 g thinsulate.

The coldest I have seen at BS is 39 F and that was under the ice in January 2001 at the bottom by the big boat. I do not wish to repeat that experience.
