Good morning-

I just purchased a new reg set (SP MK25/G260 BT) from a reputable SP dealer. I'm currently diving w/ my vintage MK20/G500 and finally decided it was time for a replacement. Since I haven't purchased a new set of regs in over 20 years, is anything I need to do prior to diving?
Any guidance would be most appreciated.

I bought a new set of G260 and the Mk 17 Evo last spring. I found that both G260 regulators needed some adjustment out of the box. I set them per the manual and then backed the micro-adjust out until they would very slightly flow when the knob was fully out. Now they perform on par with my G250 sets. To be clear, I adjusted the orifice and lever height and then used the micro adjust to fine tune. The G260 has a seat saver locking purge button, make sure to engage that feature for storage.

They will likely amaze you out of the box over the G500 and as Nemrod pointed out they can be tuned to be better.

Congratulations!

You got one of the best regulators. I wish you many decades of safe, enjoyable and most awesome diving in calm seas and great visibility with lots of fantastic marine life!

The G260 is one of my favourite second stages, awesome performer, simple and reliable. I like using black R195 face plates on them. I've bought more than10 IIRC and out of the box all were way way out of spec. Check the cracking on yours to ensure you're getting the best out of it. I've not had one out of the box that wasn't cracking above 2". Enjoy, it's a fine reg set.

You have SCUBAPRO second stages on Apeks first stage???????????

Yes, total madness. The FSR is one of my favourite first stages.

My next dream is an older, before they became gargantuan, Legend first stage with either XTX50 or G260 or F8 seconds, not yet decided.

He is like a mad scientist, mixing and matching chemicals and who knows what might become of him. It is very sad:

What advantage might be conferred upon a diver by mixing a Legend (first gen) first with a G260, curious regulator monkeys want to know?

Yes, my G260s cracked at about 1.7 inches out of the box. Come on Scubapro, what is with that?

Now if only I had the G260 carbon covers I might know where a Legend first is, think of the blasphemy I could cause to happen :eyebrow: .
