Bragging Divers

What is your opinion on Divers who brag about going deep.

Everytime I am on a diveboat, I always run across that one diver who says, I have been 330+-ft down(you know what I mean), and how deep have you been?

I know when your talking about a dive, or a trip depth would play a role in the story, but for these people it is the depth. A depth dive is all you hear about.

Or even brag about dangerous idiotic things they have done underwater.


What's your opinion?

Are they talking about diving on Air or Trimix? (If they are bragging, chances are they are diving air).

At least diving deep air, they are more likely to kill themselves where as driving drunk they are more likely to kill someone else.

When they ask you how deep you have been tell them nonchalantly that you have been to around 550' on the new FCCSR (Flux Capacitor Closed Circuit Rebreather) that keeps your PO2 at 1.4 when you were working as a support diver as your buddy attempted to break the world free diving record. However you did have to make one bounce dive to 700' to recover the body of some open circuit OW diver who thought he would go to 300' on air then had an OxTox hit and passed out. Then take a good look at his fins,hold them up and scrutinize them. When he asks what you are doing, tell him you just want to know what kinda gear to look for when you hafta go recover his body too.

Yes there is always some one who is bragging about, how deep or how there kit is the greatest............ blar blar

I always laugh and carnt help but think that these people may be the next rescue............ horrible to say i know but, it may be true
