Wow I wanna a backplate and wing after watching that video they seem to work wonders for you buyancy skills ;-)

I was wondering why I was getting PM's about this video all of a sudden.

Where's the sequel?

I think the Split fins vs Jet fins video is well overdue

Good video showing bp/w, but has nothing to do with bcj since the guy intentionally pretended to have no skills in the bcd. Entertaining but doesn't prove anything. I didn't dive that way when I wore a jacket. I'm pretty sure most of the people here who aren't newbies dive that way in a jacket. The video is funny, but doesn't show the difference in bp/w vs bcj realistically.

Why is it no one on the bp/w crowd wants to address the issue of CHOICE. Why insist anyone who doesn't dive exactly the way you do, must be some kind of idiot?

It's like religion. If you don't believe what's in the bible, then you're going to burn in hell! If you don't dive bp/w then you're going to DIE or tear up the reef, or kick up silt on the bottom, or struggle along in the water!

As has been posted here many times by many people, many of whom are instructors with 1000's of dives using both systems... this just is not the case.

If your experience tells you bp/w is best FOR YOU, then by all means use a bp/w (I do), but if a diver feels that a bcj is best for them and is happy with it, then who are we to tell them what they should or shouldn't do?

Before anyone starts outlining all the advantages of one over the other, stop and think... THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE!!!

Instead address the issue of why you BELEIVE you have the right to tell someone else how to dive.

I'm quite happy with my bp/w and have no problem explaining the advantages to someone who asks. I don't make fun of him though if he chooses something else or dives a different way. IT'S A CHOICE!

I've never told anybody that they have to dive a BP&W, or they would die or any other equally silly nonsense.

I dive a BP&W, and I build and sell them, but I don't laugh at, or try to convert Jacket BC users.

It's their choice. Feel better now?

Some of these folks will eventually become my customers, I'm patient enough to wait.

The response was to the video which does in fact, make fun of anyone who wears a bcd and of course is totally unrealistic. To me it seems like a stupid debate... I'm surprised I let myself get sucked into it :)

I use a bp/w which I'm quite happy with. I have friends who have been diving longer than me and have many more dives who wear bcj's. They're happy with what they have. They're quite comfortable in the water. They find my setup quite interesting, but have no desire to change.... and of course they look nothing like the guy in the video :rofl3:

So for the record....you don't believe that everyone should be using a bp/w?

Cmon.... did anyone really take the video seriously?

It was all in good fun... IF someone thought that was for real I have a golden BP&W with a magical unicorn bladder to sell them ;)

No I don't, and I have said so many many times.
