My doc just yesterday started me on a BP Rx for 'boarderline' high blood pressure (140's/90's),,,,,first time to be on a med. like this. It is called Teveten 400mg. once a day. I think he is really torn between putting me on it as I am on the fence/gray area of the BP limits,,,,my problem is minor stress and heredity causing BP to go up. I am not overweight/don't smoke and get fair amount of weekly exercise. Anyone use this Rx and any comments,,,or comments in general in regards to BP meds and sport diving. Thanks

Thanks for the reply,,,,normal to bit higher level of stress an most folks.....diet---pretty darn good,,,well balanced,,,rare for me to eat fast foods and junk foods...low sodium eater,,,,exercise outside of diving weekly year round--walk brisk 5 miles 6 days a week/daily basic floor exercises and real little wt. training.

You know-if you could boost your anerobic exercise(ie,walking,biking,swimming,jogging)to 30min/day for jogging/swimming or 45 min/day for walking/biking-6 days per week....eat only lean meats,grilled/avoid chips,fries-I wouldn't be suprise to see tht upper number come down by 15 points and the lower number(diastolic)come down 5-10 points-if not throw in a little Transcendental Meditation-the combination would ,in most cases, lower your blood pressure,(unless its caused by poor kidny functionining or other adrenal causeswhich is unusual)and you will be healthier,happier,and won't need meds at all.This works for the majority of my patients who have borderline "Essential High Blood Pressure"(no cause found)-Good luck. Don't go off your meds till youv'e talked things over with your MD....Peace....Saildiver.
