The slave huts were the single most boring thing I've ever seen as a tourist, anywhere. I'm not a fan of replicas/extreme restorations.

Are you sure? What about the Obelisks? Are they more or less boring than the slave huts?

Have you ever been to Tikal or Machu Picchu? Extensive restorations. Probably two of the best places I have ever travelled to.

I didn't know they were replicas or extreme restorations. Besides, no one suggested you take an hour long guided tour of the things.
They get painted and roofed on a regular basis.

Come on Dusty, that sounds like routine maintenance. The purpose is just to give you a glimpse into the lives of the slaves who worked the salt pans. At least the maintenance sounds to be respectful of the original conditions.

- dance? nope... is anything open late? There is the new beach bar thing by sand dollar?

Little Havana (live music, open mics), Cuba Compangie (salsa, 5pm to late all nights but Wednesday), Coco Beach and Spice Beach Club live music now and then, but it varies...

Bonaire is a very small island, with a small local population. I think the park is certainly worth a day out, a drive out to the lighthouse on the rough side (middle of nowhere) is a fun detour, take a kayak into the mangroves for a snorkel, donkey sanctuary, or chill out at Jibe/Sorbon. It's not a massively exciting place above water, but it has enough charms above water as well. Just don't expect crazy amounts of activity - get into the carribean groove and enjoy!

We stay away, but doesn't the waterfront north of town get pretty lively at night?

north? you mean by It Rains Fishes? Or all the way to Harbour Village? Or past it?

No one has yet mentioned gambling. There is a casino at the Divi. No idea what it is like (we walk past it twice every dive...). Not sure of the hours.

It is long gone now, but does anyone remember the dance club called Fantasy? I remember dancing with some lovely local ladies there back in the 90s.
