When shore diving in Bonaire do you just leave your spare tanks in the bed of the truck, or lock them up in the cab?

Yes, you leave them in the bed of the truck.

You do not lock your vehicle while out diving, nor leave anything of any value in it.

Best regards.

I read a letter or article that theft was a big problem for dive tourists in Bonaire. Since it is shore diving and the car can't be watched underwater, well, like the doc says leave nothing valuable in the open car.

What I understand from reading various posts on the bonairetalk.com site, the tanks are all painted with various markings that clearly indicate the dive op they came from. And since it is an island, it is not worth taking them off the isalnd and they have no resales value on the island. So, there is no problem leaving tanks in the truck.

If you lock your truck (or car) someone may think there is something worthwhile inside and break a window to see what it is.
