Hey guys. I just picked up a tank and it has a din blue steel valve. I got the insert to convert it to yoke at my LDS and it seems to be too big. When I go to put my reg on it won’t fit over the valve. There is a small lip on the insert that won’t allow the reg to seat over the valve. Is there a special insert for this tank valve?

Thanks in advanced!

I'm going to ask the "stupid question" first, only because I've made the mistake myself - Are you sure the plug isn't in backwards?

If not, I also have found different brand/manufacturer's plugs to be different....

You bought the screw-in insert meant for so-called "pro" valves? That's typically for valves on low pressure tanks. If it's an HP tank then the connections are designed to prevent you from connecting a yoke which isn't rated for that pressure. I'd take the tank in to your LDS and have them take a look to see if this is the problem, and they can explain (and give you your money back).

Low Pressure is 2400 + 10%, medium pressure is 3000 & 3442. Both are in the 232 BAR realm that can utilize convertible valves. If the valve is 300 BAR, it will not have a dimple on the back side for the yoke. It will also be deeper, and the plug will actually go too far in, not short as he is experiencing..

Seconded. Looks like this is the case

As others have said, not all DIN valves can use the insert to allow a yoke reg to work. Pictures of the valve without the reg on it would help.
