Can't make it myself. I will be doing Pennyroyal on the 27th. Still need to get the tanks filled. It will be good just to get back in the water. I haven't dove since my Adv. Nitrox course. I'm really hoping to get in at least a little reel practice before my cave course in Feb.

Just for anyone interested, Pennyroyal will be having a New Year's Eve dive. The quarry will open up at 8 pm on Wed. night. There will be free admission that night & then that morning the quarry will reopen at 10 am as normal (admission & all).

Wow. It's gonna be 70 tomorrow. I have to use a 7 mm and that would be perfect for me. Did you all go today? Would anyone be willing to take in a dive tomorrow?

Wally and I went yesterday. It's cold (38 F) and the viz is horrible. Probably 5' max.

Jim and I dropped to a platform to get situated and get some idea of what viz was like. We swam around the platform just checking things out. I turned around and couldn't see Jim. I swam in the direction that I thought he was. I noticed what I thought was Jim's tanks. Well it wasn't his tanks but his light saber dive light. It was casting that short of a beam. I was maybe 5' away to.

It was bad enough that we did one dive. Normally for a 2 hour drive I want to do at least 2 dives. Not this time.

With the 2" of silt on everything I hope that instructors have enough smarts to keep OW students out of there. One bad fin stroke and things are going to turn bad real fast.

Wow...sounds like it really sux. Thanks for the update. Doesn't look like it's going to improve anytime soon!

Jim said that it was a bit better than the last time he was there, no zero viz. Maybe the winter months will be good to it but I'm not very optimistic. With the 2" layer of silt on everything it won't take much to trash it.

Got 1 dive in at Pennyroyal yesterday. My *%$#*:censored: drysuit leaked again (still leaking from the feet- thought I'd fixed that). The temp was about 45 degrees. Vis was good in the shallows, but the deeper I went, the worse it got. I started to check out a boat at about 100ft, but once I lost sight of my buddy's HID light when I was 2 ft away, I decided that I'd had enough. Wound up with a severe leg cramp from the cold water in the legs of my suit (not fun) at the end of the dive. At that point I decided to just give it up & go home. I plan to be back at Pennyroyal New Year's eve for that dive (hopefully I'll have that darned suit fixed:furious:) & the next day.
