Yea I have have heard only tid bits about Rock....sounds like a sweet place to dive deep...maybe 270ffw if my info. is accurate,,,,but being privately owned I can see it being diff. to arrange.

PS--is this a diff. location than the Rock Lake State Hatchery site?

Yep, Rock Lake is 285feet deep. It's soutwest of the Blue Hole about a mile or two on the Agua Negra Ranch (sp?) I've got the GPS coordinates. I'll pull em up later and you can take a peak at it on google maps.

FYI....
Its up for sale....and the real estate bleep says that Rock hole is 500ffw deep....hmmmmm. http://www.nm-ranches.com/properties/aguanegra/index.php

"The northern ranch boundary of the Rock Lake pasture is adjacent to the New Mexico Game and Fish Hatchery. Rock Lake pasture contains two unique private fresh water Blue Holes. “Rock Lake” Blue Hole is 500 ft. deep. The Blue Hole “Swan Lake” is 60 feet deep. Both are fed from artesian geothermal vents. Rock Lake has rare fresh water sponges and both lakes have Bass fishing. These lakes have crystal clear fresh water and produce approximately 6,000 gallons of water per minute. The excess water is utilized by the adjacent fish hatchery. Agua Negra has retained all livestock and recreational water rights. The Agua Negra Blue Holes are known throughout the country as an inland divers destination with paid divers scheduling excursions year round."

Hmmm... I didn't see much flow from either lake. While I haven't been to the bottom of Rock Lake myself, my GUE/NAUI instructor has, and I've talked to a TDI Instructor from Fort Collins that teaches out there too. They have both told me 285ft to the bottom. They aren't exactly crystal clear either. They both have algea blooms and have a green tint to the water. The visibility isn't horrible though. :) I'm hoping to get some more diving in Rock Lake maybe in December/January. Depending on weather and whether I'm still living in West Texas at the time. :D

Yea this is just some info. from a real estate selling site I found......I have never heard they are that deep/500ffw. I would like the opt. to give it a dive sometime....I did post a thread over on the other regional SB sub forum asking for dive info.. Thanks again for all your input on this site and the NM Blue Hole.

Google Maps - Rock Lake and Swan Lake

Here is the Google Map link to Rock Lake and Swan Lake. Rock Lake is the black hole area in the middle of the map and Swan Lake is just north of Rock Lake.
