Anybody up for it? Looks like high tide is at 11:36am, for Lake Worth.. what kind of correction is needed for the bridge?

I'll be staying in Palm Beach Gardens, but I have a car so anything within an hour is fair game.

You may want to rethink this, as last time I heard Blue Heron was closed cuz of poop in the water, bacteria levels were too high and dangerous.

Does anyone know for sure?

I found this on the channel 5 news website in west plam beach on today's news (9-14-04).

All county parks are open except the following: Dubois, John Prince Campground, Lake Belvedere Estates, Loxahatchee Groves, Haverhill, Lake Lytal Park, Dyer, Lake Ida East, Juno Park, Sandalfoot Cover, Lake Worth West, Phil Foster.

So phil foster park is closed = no diving!

Thanks for the heads up.. SB rocks. Well I'm still going to try and get in a boat dive this weekend. Getting ready to start dialing my boat list now... It's a shame Rampage is no longer an option. By the way thanks metaldector... great posting on boat status.

Watch the conditions as tropical depression 11 is hitting the bahamas soon and will be passing by us.

Yup, I can visually confirm Wendy's very adept research--went out yesterday just trying to find a beach--just about everything is closed due to the ick factor...can't catch me in the water up this way for a while longer. Especially after witnessing (and smelling...eww) firsthand the backflow coming out of the sewers here!

Hey Bob! Don't let the park closures keep you from diving in poop! The Delray Outfall is in 95' of water just about 45 mins away from you. Its a 16" diameter sewage treatment discharge teeming with corn, applicators and all kinds of interesting stuff. Occasionally we are even fortunate enough to see some peanuts here!
You'll need a boat to get there, try a charter out of either Boynton or Boca. Here's a pic.

:drooling: mmmmmmm........peanuts

Actually the outfall is a really cool dive. The density and diversity of life in and around the plume is incredible (corn's a real treat for some fish, and they'll take it however they can get it). Different schools pack into the plume almost thoughout the entire water column, and predators hunt along the periffery. It's a very interesting place to just hang mid-water and watch.
I helped a guy named Ed Tichnor research the impact of the discharge on the surrounding reef systems, so yes I did get very, very close. (its warm! :11ztongue ) If you're interested, here's the report.
