Work has canceled my job, so I won't be coming to FL after all. Thanks for your help. Probably won't be any diving to do in central IL. :(

shrimp is shrimp...

Sorta like fish in a barrel at the bridge, eh? I remember when I'd get all excited about finding one of these guys who would actually let me see something other than his antennae. I'll bet Bubba Gump would disagree, though. :D

Made my 1st dive at BHB on July 28, 2011 - The dive was great even though I didn't see anything new or unique I did take some photos (see link below) I'm hooked and can't wait to dive BHB again

Nothing exciting early on the dive, though did notice that my "ent" friend was no longer present. Also finally figured out that he had actually been out in the channel. Oops. I *have* been wondering what that blue stuff is on the urchin. I saw this little green thing moving so took a pic. Had no idea that it was the balloonfish's eye until he swam out of his little hidey hole.

Didn't get much more exciting later in the dive, either. I get a kick out of watching the sea robins and flying gurnards digging around in the rubble. Don't know much about the various species nor whether I'm looking at a species thing or a sex thing with the differing colors of the cool pectoral fins. I also sometimes, at a certain size, find it less than obvious whether I'm looking at a planehead filefish or a fringed filefish.

mntlblk,

Is that urchin with the electric blue lines and the stripes spines unique?
I saw one like it at Bali, but I have not seen one like it at the brdige.

Have no idea. I *have* noticed the blue things in other shots of urchins, but I'm not allowed out of the country, anymore.

A few more from the 30th. Having a little trouble with "undoing" some of the attachments. . .

I have to wonder how many Lancer Dragonets don't get seen just because they blend in so incredibly well. This was the largest one I've run across to date. The box crabs are becoming some of my favorites. Don't see them that often, but I'm finally figuring out why I tend to suddenly lose track of them after checking a camera setting or something. They can dig into the sand incredibly quickly.
