We drove the BHB in May and picked up a small dry bag from Pura Vida. It worked like a charm, and our rental car key (electronic) stayed dry and worked perfectly. I think the dry bag was around $10-15... money well spent!

I use a master lock key box that is meant to go on a door knob, it fits around my cars door handle.
