Report from Wednesday night dive. Vis was improved since Sunday, I would guess 15-20 feet dropping sharply in the vicinity of a large mob of "divers" best described as a herd.
Temp was a steady 81.
No stellar finds or new behaviors to report.
Some cool regulars it is always worth imaging to stay sharp, saw mating Lantern bass but the shy couple would stop when the skillion watt lights would illuminate the activity
Lot of octos, scorpion fish and crabs so it seems their "time"...
John

I'll just say "thanks" for sharing. Amazing. . .

Jet, that was beyond amazing. Thanks so much for sharing that!

Thank you!!

I have to say that it takes much longer to look at the photos and read my captions than the time it took to actually occur. I'm still a little shocked that I was there and managed to photograph any of it - let alone have my pics even halfway in focus.

John - thanks for the conditions update.

We went last night and found 82 degree water with viz of about 20 ft and a bunch of octos including a late bloomer in a bottle!

Wednesday night on the swim back out with a dead battery (dies regularly at the 141 minutes) so no video, I found a small octo hanging on the opening of a clear glass bottle and he appeared to have spots.

Outgoing tide was really picking up with an especially nasty large green-brown outflow that was moving so it didn't seem worth swimming back to find Kelly.

The octo mantle was about size of my thumb. Looked like something really different.

Amazing how the unique stuff waits to be sure the camera is dead..

John

Looking forward to another night dive soon.

John, we may have seen this guy Thursday night. Saw a tiny octo with spots, as you said, in a bottle. A cute litte guy. Hoping one of our group got a pic. Good dive Thursday night. Lots of octos, stargazer, seahorse, jawfish and the usual suspects.

Just saw the news, Tiki Waterfront Sea Grill in Riviera is being demolished for redevelopment and closes in 2 weeks.

Jenny- No, but I remember that rascal.
This one had all over "polka dots" of flesh colored rings.
I've seen a picture of one before from the bridge (maybe Sandra's?) of a very small juvie that looked a lot like it and I believe she said it was unusual.
Wish I could've got a shot.
Oh well, next time..... If he sticks around.
John
