No progress with running down an ID, but a side effect of the hunt was learning that, apparently, toadfish and stargazers are much more closely related than I would have thought.

Yup. I also saw one like it on a dive last fall with SGJ. And I believe I correctly identified it then as the "god of hellfire" fish.
