"I Got to talk to one of yer brethren at Force E after today's dive. He didn't say anything about getting to name yer Sheriff's boats, so I'm guessing yer talking about yer own, private ark."

The Sheriff takes a dim view of diving off work boats unless we are doing body recovery so yeah, it's my personal boat. It came with that name and I am just superstitious enough to keep it.

The sea hares definately had eye spots and I waited to shoot one leaning out off the copulating mound for a cool "head shot" in macro.

I would much rather find the pike blennies as we have only found one reclusive fellow and I would love another chance to do that daffy duck face justice.

Hope the vis is decent tomorrow, which side did you hit today?

East side on Friday, but didn't venture very far. Never got further east than the shallow wreck, and that was towards the end of dive when the viz suddenly dropped. On the way back, though, had one of my all time great dive experiences - and, oddly enough, it involved having a camera battery conking out on me. :D

Off to see if I can ready some photos for posting. Not sure which side we'll try today. Hope the sun comes out. One of my cameras is reliant on available light. . .

Good luck finding Daffy and Donald.

Pics?

Attaching some mundane shots. Oh, did see a nice flying gurnard, fully unfurled. How many wings do those guys have?? No chance for a photo of either him nor the little purple-headed sea robin we saw with the macro setup that I was stuck with. Or, maybe I won't attach any files. ScubaBoard sez my file is corrupt, but my puter reads that external hard drive just fine. . .

Another try on some shots from Thursday.

Happy everyone is finding Jim's and my orgy. (Did I just say that?)

After consulting with one of my marine biologist friends I have found out the correct scientific term is "aggregation" or "copulating mound".

Had the great honor of getting to spend time under water with Suzan Meldonian and Steven Kovacks today. Rather intimidating. :D Also got to meet Tibenmiami. Also got to speak with some other big names in bridge diving/photography. Also learnt that diving the east bridge is a deeper endeavor than the west. Thanks to Ms. Suzan for rescuing my flag when I hadn't reeled enough rope out for the depth. :depressed:

Having two really cute decorator crabs around, and even having a seahorse wrap his tail around one of them, is just a distraction for the real pros. Those folks get to publish books for a reason, I reckon. :D

Back to readying some photos for posting. . .

thats a beautiful, VERY pregnant seahorse. nice find guys

No credit to be taken here. The locals had apparently been watching this guy for some time. I was just tagging along with my hero, Suzan. I talked to Steven afterwards and he pointed out that there was another seahorse five feet away. And, we were there for a *long* time - and I had no clue there was another one in the vicinity. He also explained to me that there is about a three day "window" for when they "hatch" once they get that "pregnant". It seems getting pics of the "event" is quite cherished. Heck, I was excited about the decorator crabs.

Got back in extra early yesterday and my buddy and I had some time alone with the same pregnant dad. The coloration seemed a bit different on the "pouch" yesterday. I think it was Tibenmiami that told me after the dive that the birthing had yet to take place. Hope somebody is there to witness and document it. He's a cute one.

Oh, and there was a youngish manatee just off the lifeguard stand as I was exiting. Uh, oh - they don't collect *those*, do they?? :D
