Went to the bridge for diving today. Arrived at 1215 for a 13:56 tide. More crowded than I would expect for a weekday, but still plenty of parking to be obtained. My guess on the vis looking over the sea wall was that it was going to be about 10ft, but since I could see the bottom, the go/no go parameter was a go, so I suited up. Was surprised that the visibility was about the same as yesterday less than 20ft. I think because it was overcast for the majority of the dive, it cut downs on the glare of the hazy water. Sea temp remains at 78f. Did a REEF fish count, 61 species in 60 minutes. By far the standout for today was and adult Permit Fish. There is a spot on the east side where I can find juvenile Permit Fish about the size of a quarter, but until today, I do not believe I have observed adult Permit at the Bridge. I did not get a sill image of the Permit, I find with faster moving fish it is much better to shoot first (video) and ask questions later. Respectively, Permit video, Bucktooth Parrot, and Silver Jenny

I've seen large permit, over 3' long, less than 2 miles from the bridge in recent months. How big were the adults you ran into?

You can see in the video the size. Just a little bigger than the Yellowfin Mojarra it was hanging with, maybe 12 inches.

Yes, they can be kind of shy, that one seems to just hang for pictures, maybe it is trying to build up a model portfolio.
That one will swim right up to ya! I shot so many photos that one evening, I finally got bored.. LOL.. crazy though it would turn orange at different angles..

There have been world record permits caught at the lake worth pier. Not unusual to see them in the ICW

Here is a friendly Caribbean reef squid that came to check us out on a recent dive at the BHB.
Love these curious little creatures. Courtesy of Nathalie

We've been hoping to see a frogfish... and today we were lucky. Almost could not believe my eyes, I only had 300psi left in my tank but we hung out for a while with this little guy. Nice Viz today.

Nice find.
Supposed to be decent this weekend, wind wise, so plans are for some beach diving..
As much as I love diving the bridge, the beach is much closer.

Which beach do you usually dive?

Hollywood beach mostly, with Yellow Brick Road my favorite go-to spot.
