O-ring,
When did you go to Bonaire? A few years ago Hurricane Lenny did quite a bit of damage, but now the reefs are in incredible shape.

And Bonaire has MORE than 1 wreck in recreational limits. The one you're thinking of is the Hilma Hooker. There are also a couple more, although they aren't in great shape any more.

If the "wrecks" you are talking about are the La Machaca and the New York or whatever (that tugboat and that fishing boat), those are NOT wrecks...they are basically sunken cars like you might find at a quarry.

I was thinking Tahiti would be VERY cool myself...

Thanks for all the replys so far.......

Bonaire then - great, good or ok? I like the idea of doing your own thing with the shore dives etc. However, while I don't expect to see schooling hammerheads and mantas on every dive I do find that even pristine reefs with small fish and the odd turtle can get a bit boring.
Does anyone know anything about Truk? (What does Caymanised mean Azatty? I presume over commercialised).
Tahiti does sound good but the Pacific Islands are a bit of a trek for us Brits.

Bwerb - I'll have to think about that one - the wife wants warm after the Winter here.....

Cheers
Mark

We speak the same language..I have no suggestions, but I will watch with great interest where you end up going and what you think of it. I am looking for somewhere to go this year myself and am totally unsure of where that will be. Truk (Chuuk) is on the top of my list, but I have no idea how that would work out as a honeymoon locale...

Good luck and I hope you have a wonderful trip!

Never been to Truk, but if you don't want to travel to the Pacific, Truk is out. It's about 650 miles southeast of Guam, which I think qualifies it as a Pacific island. It changed its name to Chuuk and it's part of the Federated States of Micronesia.

For a liveaboard, the Aggressor fleet runs an operation out of Truk (and just about every other hot diving spot in the world). If nothing else, their site is a place to start doing research.

Where ever your spouse wants to go. :)

May I suggest trying a slightly cooler place. Northern BC, around the top of Vancouver Island, it's cold water diving so a drysuit is best but I did do it one year in a 7mm wet-suit. These are pretty exciting current dives with good visibilty and loads of life. It definitely won't be too hot. Cousteau rated the area in his top three, and it's certainly different than the other places you've been.
Good luck.
