For these guys, even a Phuket shore dive is "South Andaman".

I asked my wife:

"In your mind, where does the South Andaman begin?"
"Phuket"
"So Koh Phi Phi is South Andaman?"
"Yes"

She's not a brilliant geographer, but she is a successful Thai attorney with three BAs (English, Law and Communications Science).
But is she a scuba diver...or better yet a dive industry professional 🤔

Geographically, anything below Chumporn or Surat Thani most Thais would consider "Pak Thai" or southern Thailand. However, most Thai based scuba industry professionals would put Phuket in the "southern Andaman" only if they counted a northern and southern Andamans in their minds, with northern being the Similans/Surin area and southern anything below that so Phuket, Phi-Phi, Lanta, Daeng/Muang, and Lipe. However, personally I break it up into north, central, and south areas with Phuket/Phi-Phi in the central and Lanta and sites south as "Southern Andaman." To each their own.

It is NOT "each their own"!
You did not agree with the term of Southern Andaman used by others. You were trying to correct the other based on your own definition/interpretation.
Diving Industry professional does not set any definition on locality because it is pointless.

Southern Thailand

Andaman Sea covers 750 mile from Burma(North) to Sumatra(South) and Phuket is definitely on the south of Andaman Sea.
